Trying to recreate this hairstyle.... HELP PLEASE??

So basically I have a bunch of events coming up like prom and graduation, and I want to color my hair a light golden blonde, which shouldn't be a problem. BUT I would like to get this specific style/texture to my hair and was wondering if anyone could recommend how I should go about it.

So, would a curling iron suffice (and if yes, what barrel size)??

Ooooor, should I get a body wave/perm? Would that work better?

Here's the style I'm going for: http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b374/_...

Btw my hair is naturally almost straight and medium thickness. And PLEASE don't suggest sleeping with my hair braided or using those "beachy wave" salt water sprays because they don't have this particular effect on my hair. Thanks in advance =)

looks like it was braided or something.

Repeat this mantra: hot rollers are your best friend. Trust me. It's way easier to get beachier sexy waves with rollers than it is to use a curling iron

hot rollers would work awesome, then you could spray it with a salt water/ wave spray to give it the beachier look... A permanent wave would work too, if you took this picture in to your stylist she would be able to give you the perm but you would have to style it to make it look like that. It looks like her hair is teased a little bit all over and it has the beachy look. The sea salt sprays might work better if you had a little wave/ curl in your hair.

To get this everyday wave use a LIGHT curling moose or spray on wet hair, then blow dry upside down using a hair dryer with a diffuser. This may take a few tries to perfect it from getting crunchy.

For special events use a medium size barrel on a curling iron wrap not from the bottom up but take you hair out to the side and roll inward. Your hair should be a little curly, but will tame down after awhile, then you can spray a light hairspray in, so you dont get crunchy hair, This helps if you hold to can/bottle far away from your hair.

Or can also try wrapping your hair around the closed barrel from root to tip and holding then just sliding your the barrel out from the hair.

You have to play with it to see what works best for you, closed in the barrel or wrap around a closed barrel. Everyone's hair is different.

The trick is to not WASH your hair 24 hours before hand, but it okay to let water run over your hair as you shower. It may seem a little gross at first, but it helps lock in natural mositure and oils that make your hair moldable.

The shorter you hair the harder is it to ge those natural looking beachy waves, extensions work great and you can take them out after your events have passed. Just a thought.
